A Baby Shower (of sorts)
Bear Witness will be hosting a baby shower, of sorts to provide hand knitted and crocheted baby hats, blankets and small teddy bears to the Sanyati Baptist Hospital in Zimbabwe.
Mark and Angie Byler serve as missionaries using their medical talents at the hospital. Though currently in the States, they will returning again in June.
Life at the hospital includes periods of time without electricity, no tv or other distractions while sitting in a hospital bed. Due to so little transportation women live in mini communes with rooms set apart by cinder blocks at the hospital awaiting delivery. Their other children come along.
Angie will give a presentation about the hospital and the people of Zimbabwe at the mock shower on May 3 at Lee's Summit Community Church. Patterns are available (click here). Items may be dropped off at the church.Through this event we hope to offer hand knitted (or crocheted) baby hats, blankets and small bears as well as small crochet hooks and cotton thread to provide women of the African community. Also seeking funds to pay the exorbitant international shipping fees. You may donate via Bear Witness and Paypal by clicking here. Please note AFRICA on the comments line when completing the process.
