Why Bear Witness

We are commanded to "Bear Witness" ....

and I have taken it literally.  My teddy bears help me to share God's love for each of us. I have found that a teddy bear will often soften a person’s heart and open them to accept comfort.  Without words the recipient will usually take the bear with both hands, pull it to her face and snuggle it, embracing the bear in a great big bear hug.  Smiles and even tears will appear and without a word, you have just brought comfort to someone in pain.

Sometimes we don’t need to do anything spectacular to encourage someone in pain, just offer arms of love and comfort. A teddy bear listens intently to everything it is told and it never ever tells anyone your secret.  God listens intently to everything we tell Him and He never  ever tells anyone our secret. A teddy bear will let you cry and not say a word and will know what you feel.  God will be there when you cry, and hear the words of your heart, that you cannot speak out loud.

Jesus promised to send a comforter, the Holy Spirit, when He was assended into Heaven.  A teddy bear can never replace God in our lives, but it can be a physical touch of encouragement, given out of love, with no expectation of anything in return.  The book of Acts tells about a man named Barnabas, whose name means “encourgagement”.  That is why my bears are called “Bearnabus”.  They are here to share the comfort, love and encouragement of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bear Witness of Christ, that all may believe. John 1:7
