…receive the kingdom of God like a child…. Mark 10:15
I love watching children during the Christmas season. My grandson is 2 ½ and I can’t wait to see his eyes as he opens the brightly colored wrapping papers. He is already looking around and pointing out “presents” and unwrapping items as quickly as his mom gets them wrapped.
I have found the only thing better than hugging my teddy bears is hugging a baby.
Have you watched someone when they receive a teddy bear? A big smile comes across their face and they hug it tightly. No matter what age, this is often the reaction.
When we are children we believe problems can be solved by a hug and kiss. We believe in fairy tales and the idea that we will live “happily ever after”. We are tucked into bed at night feeling the security of family. We trust easily.
That is how Jesus tells us to accept the kingdom of God. He offers salvation as His gift. We need to accept this gift “like a child”. Excited, happy, and trusting. The pleasure I get from watching my grandson is just a small fraction of the pleasure God gets watching us trust and follow Him.
It is God’s desire that all would accept Him as Lord and Savior and live with Him in Heaven for all eternity. Have you accepted His gift? He sent us a beary special gift. He sent us His Son. He wants you to accept this gift. Don’t leave it unopened, under the Christmas tree. Open it, treasure it, share it. Click here for details on “Steps to Peace With God”.
