.. whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it."  Mark 10:15

During a recent Bible reading I came across the story of Jesus talking to disciples when a group of children come running up to Jesus. The disciples tried to hold them back but Jesus replied, Let the children come unto me.   He told the disciples that you must come to the Lord “like a child”.

That same day I spent time with my adorable 20month old grandson.  I had to run some errands. He confidently put his hand in mine and let me guide him. We would get to wherever we were going and he would confidently follow me into the store or place of business. He looked all around but he held tight to my hand. It reminded me of Psalm 23…. He leads me.

My grandson knew I would take care of him if he stayed with me.  When he turned away from me I would pull him back.  Isn’t that how God is with us. He wants us to have the kind of love and trust for Him that a child has for his/her parents and other care givers. Trust Him to provide for your needs,  hold tight to His hand and allow Him to guide you, be confident in His protection as you “lay down by the still water” and rest in Him.

How are you trusting in God?  Are you holding tight to His hand and allowing Him to lead you? Or are you running off in an entirely different direction then looking back and crying out “God, where are you?”

1 Thessalonians 5:2 tell us “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.:              Are you prepared for the journey ?.

How are you doing on your Bible reading?  I have recently found a podcast which you can download to your iPod (or other mp3 player) or your computer.  Brian Hardin is reading the Bible through this year and has started podcasting it.  He started it as a way of accountability to a few people. He has now created an entire community of people reading along with daily.  Hundreds of people are now listening each day to Brian read a passage from the Old Testament,  the New Testament, a Psalm and a Proverb.  If you’d like to check out the readings click here.

I have found his reading to be very enjoyable, he has an excellent reading voice.  Hearing the Word I find that I pick up on little tidbits that I miss when I read to myself.  I can close my eyes and quietly meditate on the words I hear or I can hear God’s Word while driving or cleaning up around the house.     Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.  Romans 10:17

An Encouraging Word:  inasmuch as you did it unto the least of these, you did it to me.
