Who is in the driver’s seat “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jer 29:11
Lord give me patience and give it to me now!! That is often my prayer. When I am ready for something I am ready and ready now. I do not like to wait.
I called the doctor’s office to make an appointment this morning and immediately have to wait while a computer talks to me and then wait while I am put on hold and wait for someone to pick up the phone where I have to wait while that person puts me on hold to get the information I need. My grandson calls “grandma, come here” and I say “wait a minute, I am busy with whatever I am doing at the time.”
It is during these impatient times I find myself most inclined to sin because my focus and my mind are on myself. I am more vulnerable to Satans attacks during these times. ( ouch, an epiphany while typing ) Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith. (1 Peter 5:8-9 NLT) So humble yourselves before God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. (James 4:7-8 NLT) Therefore put on the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground. (Eph 6:13) God has plans for me but I must walk with Him and stay on the path ahead of me. Getting impatient and speeding through the stop signs of life only open the door for attacks. I have to let God do the driving. Years ago there were bumper stickers everywhere that read “God Is My Co-Pilot”. According to dictionary dot com one of the definitions of pilot is “ to steer or control the course”. I wondered then but I am certain now, I do not want God to co-pilot my life, he is to be the pilot of my life.
