You are not alone I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you. John 14:18
Mark pointed to the picture in his photo album and explained to me that the Dom Dziecka Children’s Home in Poland is housed in an old castle. He showed me where the girls are housed, where the boys stay and even the nursery section. Then my heart broke as he told me workers lock the rooms and go home at night leaving no adult to hold a child that awakes from a nightmare and quietly remind them they are safe. Can you imagine being all alone like that overnight? Perhaps you experienced that as a child.
Children are beary precious to our Lord. The gospels tell us stories of crowds coming to Jesus for teaching and healing. After much time with the crowds Jesus and the disciples would go away to get rest; but when the children would come to Jesus He would not send them away because “the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mark 10:14) and “whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me (Luke 9:48).
Bearnabas Bear is packing his bags and preparing to travel with Mark to make his home with these children and offer them a physical representation of His love and comfort and to hold. Mark will be traveling there this summer to build a safe playground for them and Bearnabas wants to join in the efforts. Named for Barnabas in the book of Acts, Bearnabas Bear (bear of encouragement) will have a Polish version of the “You Are Not Alone” poem and the “Teddy Bear Verses” attached.
You can sponsor a bear for only $15. If you wish your picture can be sent along with the bear and you will receive a picture of a child with the bear when Mark returns. .

AN ENCOURAGING IDEA As you walk down the parking lot toward the entrance of your favorite WalMart (or any store) watch for elderly people or for parents who are putting a young child in the car. Why not take their cart as you walk past? You need one anyway and you will be helping them. The mother of the young child will appreciate that she will not have to leave her child in the car while she locates the cart corral.
