This week’s Christian Carnival is hosted by Derek Gilbert at “Weapons of Mass Distraction” and is filled with comments about Easter, Christ, Terri Schiavo, ideas about faith and even a podcast!!!
If you have never checked out the Christian Carnival, I would strongly encourage it. It is great to see so many different people speak out for the Lord.
I received this via email and often use it to remind mself that whatever I do, no matter how small, whether good or bad, I do to the Lord…….
A young lady named Sally, relates an experience she had in a seminary class, given by her teacher, Dr. Smith. She says that Dr. Smith was known for his elaborate object lessons.
One particular day, Sally walked into the seminary and knew they were in for a fun day.
On the wall was a big target and on a nearby table were many darts. Dr. Smith told the students to draw a picture of someone that they disliked or someone who had made them angry, and he would allow them to throw darts at the person’s picture.
Sally’s friend drew a picture of one who had stolen her boyfriend. Another friend drew a picture of his little brother. Sally drew a picture of a former friend, putting a great deal of detail into her drawing, even drawing pimples on the face. Sally was pleased with the overall effect she had achieved.
The class lined up and began throwing darts. Some of the students threw their darts with such force that their targets were ripping apart. Sally looked forward to her turn, and was filled with disappointment when Dr. Smith, because of time limits, asked the students to return to their seats. As Sally sat thinking about how angry she was because she didn’t have a chance to throw any darts at her target, Dr. Smith began removing the target from the wall.
Underneath the target was a picture of Jesus. A hush fell over the room as each student viewed the mangled picture of Jesus; holes and jagged marks covered His face and His eyes were pierced.
Dr. Smith said only these words… “In as much as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me.”
Matthew 25:40.
No other words were necessary; the tear-filled eyes of the students focused only on the picture of Christ.
Found in America Weapons of Mass Distraction is a post by Derek Gilbert. These weapons are in the hands of the “rights”, but whose rights ??
I found this blog today. Some good thoughts and interesting java applets.
Terri Schaivo is now 7 days without food or water. Reports are that she will pass away soon. This event has become such a media focus you cannot go anywhere without finding it a topic of conversation and many heated debates.
Everyone has an opinion. No matter which side you take, there is one fact that cannot be disputed. Terri will die. When she dies her body will be laid to rest and she will no longer be on this earth.
Over 2000 years ago a man died. He was innocent. He, too was ordered to die by the government. He was beaten until he almost unrecognizable. He was hung on a cross and died slowly, horribly, in front of many onlookers who ridiculed him as he suffered. When he has died, his body was buried.
When Terri dies, though her soul will be in heaven, her body will be dead. But Jesus did not remain in the grave. On the third day He rose. He left the grave and walked among the people. There were hundreds of witnesses to His resurrection. It is because of His resurrection that we are all offered a chance at life eternally in heaven.
As you celebrate this Easter, remember Christ died for you on the cross as atonement for your sins that you may have eternal life. But don’t leave Him on the cross. Don’t leave Him in the grave. He is not there. He is risen. And He is coming back one day. He is coming for me; he is coming for you. Will you be ready?
I heard a wonderful explanation describing the difference between “knowing God” and “trusting God”. It was in a performance by Christian comedian, Ken Davis.
There is a theoretical law called “The Law of Pendulum”. Here is how it works. A pendulum, once released to begin swinging will swing as far one way as possible and then will return just short of its original swing. It will always fall short, even if by a fraction of inch, but still short and never to exact point of origin.
To demonstrate this he was speaking in a classroom and had created a crude pendulum in the ceiling with 250 pounds of metal weights tied to four strands of 500-pound test parachute cord. Ken took the barbell pendulum and brought it up to the tip of the professor’s nose. He asked the professor to sit against the wall. He asked the professor “do you know the law of the pendulum?” Yes, replied the professor. “Do you understand the law of the pendulum?” “Yes.” Do you believe in the law of the pendulum?” “Yes” the professor replied, though weakly as drops of sweat began to bead on his forehead.
Ken released the pendulum. He says he never saw anyone move as fast as that professor did to get out of the way. He knew the “law of the pendulum”, even understood and taught it. He did not BELIEVE and TRUST in the “law of the pendulum”.
What about you? Do you know God? Do you understand God? Do you BELIEVE and TRUST God? Can you know God ? YES, you can.
5 days with no food or water. This brain damaged woman who has not received any of the prescribed physical theraphy in the 10 years since her collapse, who is not on any form of life support, only a feeding tube, is now slowly dying of thirst and starvation. Not one penny of the lawsuit award for her physical therapy has been used for medical treatment. She is not in a coma, she is aware of her surroundings and responds to stimuli.
Her parents go on national television begging for their daughter to be saved, her husband goes on national television declaring his love and desire to allow to die. Lines are being drawn by all who hear of this case.
I am amazed our legal system is allowing this. It would not allow this to happen to a dog, so why to this woman? And why is there not an investigation into her lack of medical treatment and physical therapy? I realize we do not have all the facts but something is definitely missing in the reports we get.
Ezekial 34:4 You have not taken care of the weak ones, healed the ones that are sick, bandaged the ones that are hurt, brought back the ones that wandered off, or looked for the ones that were lost. Instead, you treated them cruelly.
Nick, the gnome is here.
