Encouraging WORD of the Day

Posted by: BearyAnn   in Encouraging Words

Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.    Psalm 51:2

For our evil consciences (sin) have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean         Heb 10:22

you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.   I Cor 6:11

From my kitchen you step onto a large deck shaded by huge trees overflowing with limbs filled with green leaves. The wind rustling through the leaves is soothing and the shde mades it cool and enjoyable to sit and relax with my first cups of coffee.

The leaves also fall freely onto the deck making quite a mess!!  Every day I sweep piles of leaves off the deck, it looks so nice. Until I put the broom away and look back to see a few more leaves have already dropped onto the surface of my quiet hide-away.

Sweeping this morning I thought how Jesus cleansed me through His death and resurrection.  He wiped away all my sin; yet He no sooner forgives me then I sin again.  However, as pointed out in Philippians 1:6 “he which has begun a good work in you (me) will  continue it until the day Christ returms”.

Jesus Christ died to cleanse my sin, he rose from the dead so that I may one day join Him in Heaven.  I keep sweeping the leaves and He keeps sweeping away my sin. One day I will stand before Him in robes of white, washed clean by His blood, no more a sin to stain it.

In the meantime I will keep following Him and I will continue to sweep the leaves.

I am not the woman I ought to be, I am not the woman I wish to be, and I am not the woman I hope to be, but by the grace of God, I am not the woman I used to be.

Pooh Bear arrives at Build-A-Bear

Posted by: BearyAnn   in Grandma Bear, TeddyBear Thoughts

Pooh Bear

Friday was a beary special day as Winnie The Pooh made his debut at the exciting Build-A-Bear Workshop.

Grandma and Grandpa Bear took along their little grandbear.

You don’t have to be child to enjoy this adventure. Grandma Bear made one for herself (no photo because I had control of the camera).

He may be a “bear of little brain” but I call him  “a bear full of love”.

Who Am I ?

Posted by: BearyAnn   in TeddyBear Thoughts

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.    Galatians 3:26

(This interesting piece of triva came from Braingle.Com)

I have been a writer, rancher, war hero and a president known for my love of the great outdoor.
You can even see my face on Mt. Rushmore.

I first headed west, drawn by the hunting of buffalo on the northern plains.
I was determined to add it to my trophy collection; to which I took great pains.

First I was Assistant Secretary of the Navy.
Then, I helped organize and lead the First U.S Volunteer Cavalry.

As president, I revived the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.
To break up big corporations and restore competition for little companies, that’s a fact.

Some of my most important actions as president were in the areas of conservation.
I wanted to preserve our wilderness in the form of national parks for our nation.

I negotiated a settlement of the Russo-Japanese War, which was a feat of no small size.
As a result of this act, I was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

I was the first president to fly in an airplane to the envy of others.
I flew for four minute in a plane built by the Wright Brothers.

Once, I took a drink of coffee and exclaimed, “That coffee tastes good, even to the last drop!”
From this, Maxwell House got their motto which put them on top.

Now it’s time to give it a try…
What’s my name, who am I?

(scroll down for answer)

He is none other than the infamous Theodore Roosevelt.

Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) was the 25th U.S. president.
His nicknames were “TR”, “Trust-Buster” and “Teddy”.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906 for ending the Russo-Japanese War in 1905 and was the first American to win the Nobel Prize in any of the six categories.

Encouraging WORD of the Day

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the Lord wants; day and night they think about his law. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper.        Psalm 1:1-3 NLT

Years ago there were bumper stickers everywhere that read “God Is My Co-Pilot”. According to dictionary dot com one of the definitions of pilot is “ to steer or control the course”.  I wondered then but I am certain now, I do not want God to co-pilot my life, he is to be the pilot of my life.

Encouraging WORD of the Day

As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life.     2 Peter 1:3
I do not read instruction manuals. I figure if I look at the thing long enough I will figure it out.  Which is probably the reason I have had bookshelves that would fall once the first book was placed on it, a table that ended up with only 2 legs and a dress I tried sewing that had 3 sleeves and no neck opening.   My husband, on the other hand, reads every line of instruction, including the owner’s manual of his car.

Instructions are important, they help to understand the inner workings and precise composition of the product.  Trying to be a christian without reading the instruction manual (a.k.a.  THE BIBLE) is like tyring to put together a complex product with no idea of how to do so or even with the finished product is supposed to look like.

I have been listening to the Bible daily, going through the Bible in a Year in this manner.  For myself, hearing the Word spoken I pick up on more details than when I read. But I still do reading as well. One is not better the other, the important thing is getting the Word into my head and my heart.

I still make mistakes along the way, but the more the Word is instilled the more I follow the path Christ has prepared for me. Even if I should fall off the path He is still there, holding my hand and showing me the next step.

Have you read your owner’s manual?

Encouraging WORD of the Day

God alone made it possible for you to be in Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made Christ to be wisdom itself. He is the one who made us acceptable to God. He made us pure and holy, and he gave himself to purchase our freedom.  I Cor 1:13

July 4 is a day we celebrate as our country’s day of freedom. Families gather for BBQ and games, fireworks explode all over. We celebrate a declaration of independence men fought and died for many years ago so that we may live and enjoy it today.

Christ died on a cross over 2000 years ago so that we may experience freedom from sin and enjoy heaven after life here on earth has ended.

Why are you standing here staring at the sky? Jesus has been taken away from you into heaven. And someday, just as you saw him go, he will return! Acts 1:11      Look, up in the sky, it is fireworks, it is superman, it is J E S U S.

Superman Returns

Posted by: BearyAnn   in TeddyBear Thoughts

SuperBearemyBearemy Bear joined us as we went in to see the IMAX 3D showing of Superman Returns.

I nudged my husband several times through the movie and thought I was seeing gospel references starting with a voiceover of his father talking about the humans and that he was “sending them his only son”.  I won’t tell more so as not to spoil it for anyone but I was excited to read the article on the movie at Crosswalk dot com.

I enjoyed the movie. One thing caught my attention, there was not one curse word spoken.  At least none caught my attention, there were a couple of times I waited expecting one to be blurted out.  I cannot say with 100% certainty there wasn’t any, only that I never noticed one. We plan to see it again, I want to be sure. There were several families in the theater, one particular scene was upsetting to a young child who cried out he didn’t like it.

All in all it was a good movie. Like most films some of the fight scenes were too long for my enjoyment, and I felt the end could have come sooner than it did. I was disappointed in the 3D scenes, there were too few.

Welcome back Superman.

I Pledge Allegiance

Posted by: BearyAnn   in Paws to Think About It

Red Skelton gave a wonderful rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance.   Speaking it daily in school his teacher felt that perhaps it was becoming monotonous and had lost its meaning.   Turn on your speakers and enjoy.
Don’t we sometimes do the same with our bible memorization and prayers?

Encouraging WORD of the Day

Walk humbly and do what is right.   Zep 2:3

Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it.   Proverbs 22:6

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN’T LOOKING
 (written by a former child)

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don’t.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn’t feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it’s all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I learned most of life’s lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, “Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn’t looking.”
