Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.    Matt 5:12

While many look at December as a time to be extra good so that santa will visit, or a time to be extra thankful and those who serve you or even a time for joy and giving there are many who are experiencing the holiday season as a first one without a loved one. Some are sitting beside the bedside of one who is slipping away from this world into death at this very moment.

To these Christmas is not the holly jolly fun experience.  I understand as I buried my father just 2 weeks before Christmas several years ago; I buried a husband and a grandchild and experienced those first holidays without their presence.  I know they are in the splendor of heaven and celebrating Christmas with Jesus, and for that I almost envy them.

Recently I came across this poem. I don’t know the author but the words are so encouraging I wanted to share them you.

Praying you will have a blessed Christmas.  BearyAnn

"I’m Spending Christmas With Jesus Christ This Year"

I see the countless Christmas trees,

Around the world below.

With tiny lights, like heaven’s stars,

Reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular,

Please wipe away that tear

For I’m spending Christmas

With Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs

That people hold so dear,

But the sounds of music can’t compare

With the Christmas choir up here.

For I have no words to tell you,

The joy their voices bring.

For it is beyond description

To hear the angels sing.

I can’t tell you of the splendor.

Or the peace here in this place.

Can you just imagine Christmas

With our Savior, face to face?

I’ll ask Him to light your spirit,

As I tell Him of your love.

So then pray one for another

As you lift your eyes above.

Please let your hearts be joyful,

And let your spirit sing,

For I’m spending Christmas in heaven,

And I’m walking with the King!

A joyful Christmas wish to you

Posted by: BearyAnn   in TeddyBear Thoughts

In another window on my computer is a serious entry about the Christmas season. I wanted to stop and make this fun entry to. Christmas is a season of hope to all, even to those who prefer to put their hope in a man in a red suit or something other than Christ. People come together and seek to help those in need during this time of year.  It is also a season of joy and excitement with lights everywhere.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed as a busy mom, working and trying to keep the kids excitement to a small roar and presents wrapped and getting hubby to hang the Christmas lights?  May I suggest this  fun video spoof "God Rest We Weary Working Moms" by friend and author, Debi Stack.

Another fun sideline to the Christmas rush is this rendition of "12 Days of Christmas" by an a-capella group.  It starts out very simply but then….. well click here and enjoy.

I pray you have a  joyous CHRISTmas filled with blessings from God above.

Encouraging WORD Mark 10:15

Posted by: BearyAnn   in Encouraging Words, Paws to Think About It

..anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.   Mark 10:15

I love the Christmas season. My favorite part of Christmas is the look on children’s faces as they watch in awe the stories of Santa and the way their faces light up when they talk about how wonderful Santa is and what terrific gifts he is going to bring them.

When you look at this child’s face you see such excitement and faith in this man called Santa. Rich or poor there is a period of time in a young child’s life when they are convinced Santa is real and nothing will stop him from delivering gifts all around the world in a miraculous fashion on Christmas Eve.

I remember the year my daughter asked “mommy, why doesn’t Santa Claus visit poor people?” That year she put money in the salvation army red pots every times she saw one. Alas, we all grow up and that awe and wonder and absolute faith in Santa disappears when we realize there is no such thing as a man in a red suit who loves all the children all around the world.

It is with this same innocence we are asked to put our faith in Jesus. We are asked to accept him “like a little child” (Mark 10:15). Christ wants us to look to Him with the awe, trust and wonder we put in a fat man in red suit. But there is one big difference. That fat man in the red suit is just that, a man in red suit. He doesn’t travel around the world with reindeer and deliver gifts to all children whether rich or poor. Jesus is God. He came to earth to be born and walk among the people, He was betrayed by one whom He loved dearly and beaten and crucified. It doesn’t end there. He defeated death and rose from the grave. Jesus is alive. He is preparing a place in heaven where we will spend eternity with Him. He paid the price for our entry into heaven by his sacrificial act of death and resurrection. There is price we must pay. We must accept that Jesus is the living Son of God and confess our sins. We must repent and seek to follow Him. His life and His love are everlasting.

This Christmas it is my prayer that in the midst of all the gifts, the wrappings, the parties, the cards and all the festivities involved that you will seek the reason for the season. Jesus Christ.
