Terri Schaivo is now 7 days without food or water. Reports are that she will pass away soon. This event has become such a media focus you cannot go anywhere without finding it a topic of conversation and many heated debates.
Everyone has an opinion. No matter which side you take, there is one fact that cannot be disputed. Terri will die. When she dies her body will be laid to rest and she will no longer be on this earth.
Over 2000 years ago a man died. He was innocent. He, too was ordered to die by the government. He was beaten until he almost unrecognizable. He was hung on a cross and died slowly, horribly, in front of many onlookers who ridiculed him as he suffered. When he has died, his body was buried.
When Terri dies, though her soul will be in heaven, her body will be dead. But Jesus did not remain in the grave. On the third day He rose. He left the grave and walked among the people. There were hundreds of witnesses to His resurrection. It is because of His resurrection that we are all offered a chance at life eternally in heaven.
As you celebrate this Easter, remember Christ died for you on the cross as atonement for your sins that you may have eternal life. But don’t leave Him on the cross. Don’t leave Him in the grave. He is not there. He is risen. And He is coming back one day. He is coming for me; he is coming for you. Will you be ready?
